Buford Holt has lived in Redding for over 30 years when he came to work at Shasta Dam as Area Supervisor that addresses environmental issues. He has a PhD in Biology a post doctorate in ecology, before coming to Shasta County he worked for the Atomic Energy Commission when they were studying the effects of ten years of radiation on the forest collecting the data that relates to working knowledge of the effects of nuclear war and climate crisis. He then worked with Stanford Research Institute doing consulting on energy production.

After retiring he became active in community and spiritual volunteering at local service organizations and churches. Seeking a way to improve life by applying spiritual knowledge has made him an active student of many spiritual paths in the search for God. Calling to mind the guidance mankind has from Christ concerning the need to care for the poor as part of the mission of every believer, he is devoting his efforts to “assist the dispossessed” and understands the power of people with good intentions working together. As a member of the Baha’i Faith he knows that all paths lead to God and love manifests in service.Joining the advisory board of Developing Diamonds is a way to help each other and to lift all citizens, improve our community and include all voices
